Do you love where you live? Are you passionate about a particular local matter like schooling, road safety or social care?
While our next elections, Essex County Council, aren’t until 2025, we’re already on the lookout for local residents across the constituency who are interested in becoming a councillor.
Councillors are elected to represent and be the voice of residents and communities on a wide range of topics related to the work of the Council. The role is perfectly suited to someone who is active, hardworking and passionate about improving the area they live in. Personal and professional qualifications and experience are also key assets to bring to the table. It is also worth noting that it is a paid role, with the current basic annual allowance for district councillors being approx. £5,506.88, while for a County Councillor it is £12170.31
Being a Conservative councillor can be extremely rewarding but as we like to be up front about things it does also require a time commitment and a balancing of work in the delivery of the role. However, the reward of playing your part in enhancing where we live and being involved in the wider Conservative ‘levelling up’ agenda makes it an exciting place to be!
